Positive Influence of Certification on the Financial Performance of Cocoa Production Models in Cameroon

Cameroon plans to double its cocoa production in the coming decade line with international requirements for sustainable and deforestation-free cocoa. Private certification, which has developed considerably recent years, should help achieve this objective. Based on a literature review 63 individual interviews farmers, we identified four archetypes of using criteria plantation size, degree shade, support from public or private extension services. We analyzed average operating accounts archetypes. Our findings show that net profit rates obtained by small-scale certified producers are 14% (in savannah zone) 24% forest zone). These much higher than other two models. Certification schemes provide technical financial support, positive influence practices many compensates lack services, now almost non-existent. A hybrid governance sector could clarify improve organization interactions between regulation certification systems.
